Ghana Embassy to hold oil forum in Chech Republic

The Ghana Embassy in the Czech Republic will on November 9, hold a forum on Ghana’s emerging oil and gas industry in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic.

A statement issued in Accra, on Monday, by the Embassy, said the forum would be organised in collaboration with the Czech Chamber of Commerce, Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), the Czech Export Guarantee and Insurance (EGAP).

It would be on the theme: “Ghana’s Discovery of Oil and Gas: Exciting Opportunities for Business.”

The statement said Vice President John Dramani Mahama is expected to lead a delegation of Ministers, public sector officials, executives in the banking sector as well as businessmen and women in the private sector to the Prague Forum, which would he and Czech Prime Minister Petr Necas would jointly open.

The Ministers of Trade, Energy and Transport are expected to address the forum.

The statement said the hosting of the forum was largely informed by the need to renew and re-establish meaningful economic ties between Ghana and the Czech Republic to the level it was in the 1960s.

It said the forum seeks to bring together various stakeholders in trade and industry of the two countries to, among others, discuss opportunities for mutually beneficial commerce between their business communities.

The statement said the forum, which is specifically designed to target the Czech Business Community, would sensitize businesses on investment opportunities in Ghana as a whole and place special emphasis on several areas such as oil and gas services including the petrochemicals industry and infrastructure and energy.

Others would be manufacturing, agric and agro-processing, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), tourism and financial services.
