Zain partners MultiChoice Ghana for ZAP payment system

Zain Ghana on Thursday inaugurated its partnership with MultiChoice Ghana that would enable customers to pay their Digital Satellite Television (DSTV) bills using its product Zap.

Zap allows Zain customers to enjoy certain services such as sending and receiving money, airtime and making purchases without carrying physical cash.

Zain’s partnership with MultiChoice would enable DSTV customers pay their DSTV bills through the mobile commerce service, Zap, to partner banks such as the UBA, Ecobank, the Standard Chattered Bank and all Zain agent points or offices.

Mr Philip Sowah, Managing Director, Zain Ghana who was speaking during the launch said the partnership demonstrated Zain’s commitment to empower its customers to live a more simplified lifestyle.

He said since Zap was launched eight months ago, over one million customers had registered for it as it sought to bring security and efficiency in money transaction.

He urged Zain subscribers to register for the service by providing personal details with a valid photo identity card at any Zain shop nationwide or with any of the partner banks.

Demonstrating how the system worked, he said a customer only needed to load money onto his/her mobile wallet and then Zap the money to the nickname ‘DSTV’, use one’s account number as reference number and then the bill would be paid.

The electronic value goes straight to DSTV through the state of the art security system and the service is also password protected so no one can access your mobile wallet without your knowledge or information,” he explained.

Mr Sowah said Zain would reward 10 customers who pay their DSTV bills using Zap with a router and a month’s free DSTV subscription data. This would be done through prize draws for three months.

He pledged Zain’s commitment to work with other reputable companies to make life simpler for customers and Ghanaians.

Mr Cecil Sunkwa-Mills, Acting General Manager of MultiChoice Ghana, expressed MutiChoice’s willingness to work with Zain to bring comfort to its subscribers across the country.

“I will urge DSTV subscribers who are Zain customers to register for the service as it would work for their own good,” he said.
