Unilever honours best female graduates from public tertiary institutions
Eight female graduates from public tertiary institutions were on Tuesday presented with awards by Unilever Ghana, under the Unilever Ghana Foundation (UGF) programme, in Tema.
Each of the award-winners, selected by the UGF for the 2008-09 academic year, received a certificate of recognition, assorted Unilever products, and a token financial award.
Six of them graduated from the polytechnics, while the remaining two are from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
Miss Juliet Ankomah and Miss Juliet Aaferemwin Yirerong, both from KNUST, were best graduating students in Human Biology and Microbiology respectively.
Miss Hilda Heidi Akati from Koforidua Polytechnic emerged as the best graduating student in Higher National Diploma (HND) Marketing, while Miss Jennifer Azumah Aduah from the Bolgatanga Polytechnic was the best student in HND Accountancy.
The other best polytechnic graduates were: Miss Janet Tse (Takoradi Polytechnic)- HND Textiles; Miss Leticia Gyamfua Sarfo (Sunyani Polytechnic)- HND Secretaryship and Management; Miss Joana Addae (Kumasi Polytechnic)-HND Purchasing and Supply; and Miss Christabel Serwah Amporfo (Accra Polytechnic)- HND Secretaryship and Management.
Speaking at the function, Mr Andrew Evans Quayson, Chairman of the Foundation, said the Foundation’s focus on female excellence was aimed at supporting the national effort to empower women, who undoubtedly were the engine of societal well-being and growth.
The award winners thanked Unilever for the recognition and honour done them and gave the assurance that they would aspire to greater academic heights.
