Credit Union assists customers to expand their business

The Effutu Municipal Chief Executive, Nii Ephraim, has called on the public to join credit unions to benefit from their assistance.

He made this call at the 4th anniversary of the Winneba based Edwumapa Co-operative Credit Union.

The anniversary was held under the theme “Local, Trusted, Serving You.”

The union had, over the past three years, granted a total of GH₵209,268.20 loans to 431 people in the Effutu Municipality.

The beneficiaries include bakers, garage and transport owners, fishermen/fish mongers, poultry farmers, hairdressers, photographers and petty traders.

The Manager of the Union, Mr Kingsley Arko-Sam, said the union also helped to revive 44 abandoned fish ponds at Effutu Atekyedo near Winneba at a cost of GH₵11,905.00.

Madam Gracelove Osae, chairperson of the Board of the Union, said the Union started with 378 members in 2007and now has a membership of 909.
