Kumasi motorists complain of cheating by fuel stations
Mr Samuel Sarpong, Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), has expressed concern about growing complaints made by motorists against fuel stations for cheating in the sale of the product.
The complaint was that some fuel stations in the Metropolis have adjusted their pumps and selling fuel below the right quantities to motorists.
Mr Sarpong, who was speaking at the launch of this year’s Consumers Service Week celebration in Kumasi on Monday, therefore, appealed to National Petroleum Authority (NPA) to investigate the matter for the appropriate sanction to be taken.
Held under the theme: “Right quantity, right quality, right price”, the event was organized by the NPA and drew the participation of some Journalists, retailers of petroleum products and consumers.
Mr Sarpong underlined the critical importance of petroleum products to the socio-economic development of the country.
The MCE commended the NPA for introducing the “10 Litre Measuring Can” and said the Authority should do more to educate the public on its use.
Mr Alex Mould, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the NPA, said the occasion was meant to highlight activities of the authority including its mandate, objectives and responsibilities.
The celebration provided the platform to educate the public on safe use of petroleum products and deepened their knowledge about their rights and responsibilities.
Mr Mould said with the petroleum price stabilization, he was confident that, the NPA in partnership with other stakeholders would continue to render quality services to consumers.
As part of the celebration, manual guidelines for the establishment and operation of petroleum products retail outlets, was launched.
