Vegetarians cautioned against artificial foods
The vegetarians Association of Ghana, on Saturday held its annual week celebration to propagate the health benefits of veganism, in Accra.
The week brings together members of the association as well as the public to deliberate on the benefits of being a vegetarian and also the sampling of various vegetarian foods.
Most of the participants were impressed with the various vegetarian dishes available, describing it as very nutritious and easy to cook.
The Members urged the public to be wary of artificial foods and excessive dairy products, since they are the sources of many diseases affecting most Ghanaians.
Speaking at the celebration, Major (Retired) Thomas Effah, president of the association said the association has taken steps to restructure its administrative structure to meet the aspirations of members and international standards as well.
He said as part of the plans, a current account had been created for the association at the Ghana Commercial Bank, High Street Branch, Accra, as well as a constitution has also been drawn.
Mr noted that, a new membership registration exercise to update membership details, including e-mail and telephone numbers and that the Association Website and a secretariat would also be established.
Mr urged members to assist in the preparation of the next year’s celebration with their time, talent, cash, and kind in order to have a grand celebration, and also to achieve the objectives of the celebration.
