EC official condemns youth-related violence during elections
Mr Samuel Boadu, Deputy Brong Ahafo Regional Director of the Electoral Commission on Wednesday advised the youth not to be lured by politicians to cause mayhem in pursuance of their selfish ambitions.
Mr Boadu gave the advise in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Sunyani, in respond to the destruction of some ballot papers by some rampaging youth in the Techiman Municipality.
“This happened when there was power outage,” adding that the timely intervention of the military saved the situation.
Mr Boadu said a similar incident occurred in Wenchi Municipality.
“There will be no hope for this crop of generation if the youth continue to allow selfish politicians to use them for their own political gains,” he stressed.
He said the youth stood a better chance of occupying responsible positions in the country if they engaged in productive ventures.
