It was rather the GNA reporter who was late – Deputy Minister

Nii Amasah Namoale, Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture, has denied that he was late for a meeting with fishermen in the Volta Region at Ho last Tuesday January 11, as reported by GNA.

Speaking to the GNA in Accra on Monday Nii Namoale said he slept at Woezor Hotel at Ho and went to the conference hall of the hotel, where the meeting took place at 0830 hours but the fishermen had not all reported so he went to pay a courtesy call on the Volta Regional Minister, Mr Joseph Amenowode.

When he returned at 0930 hours to the hotel he saw that fishermen were taking their breakfast at the hotel restaurant and some of them stopped eating and wanted to attend the meeting but he asked them to finish eating and that the Regional Director of Agriculture, John Tsrakasu should send for him when they were ready.

Nii Namoale said: “I waited but they were not coming so I went to the venue of the meeting and saw the Regional Director of Agric lecturing the fishermen. I went and sat down for him to finish his lecture before I started the meeting.

“The fishermen were very happy. None of them complained and they were full of praise for the President. If anybody was late, then it was the GNA Reporter, because if he were there on time he should have seen me at 0830 hours on that day at the hotel.”

GNA had wrongly reported that the fishermen had complained about the late arrival of the Deputy Minister.
