Energy Ministry tackles frequent power outages

Frequent power outages at Adum-Kwanwoma, a fast-growing community near Kumasi, is now over, with the supply of three transformers to the town by the Energy Ministry.

Nana Kofi Agyei IV, Chief of the Town, described the ministry’s intervention as a big relief since the people would now have uninterrupted electricity.

“Besides, we would no longer have to worry about the safety of our electrical appliances and gadgets”, he added.

Nana Agyei, who could not hide his joy, when he performed the ceremony to officially inaugurate the transformers, said they would forever remain grateful to the government.

The chief encouraged the people to take advantage of the reliable energy to boost economic activities, adding that, they should also pay their electricity tariff on time.

He used the occasion to draw attention to the need to keep the environment clean to avoid diseases.

He said they should also plant trees to serve as wind breaks and prevent the situation where rainfall accompanied by strong winds often wreck buildings and destroy power lines in the area.

Nana Agyei said it was in their own interest to maintain the eco-system to reduce the impact of disasters whenever they strike.

Mr Tony Nyame, the District Chief Executive, said the government would not discriminate against any community and would make sure that there is equity in the sharing of the national resources.

He cautioned the people against illegal electricity connection to avoid prosecution.
