Youth urged to focus on career development
Speakers at the just ended Springboard Africa 2011 road show, have urged the younger generation to be passionate and focus on perusing their career development.
The speakers urged them to be determined, persistent and consistent about whatever they find yourselves doing.
They made the call at the Springboard Africa 2011 road show grand finale on the theme “The turning point”, in Accra, over the weekend.
Springboard is a series of conferences and seminars on investment, leadership, motivation and entrepreneur for graduates, equipping young executives with the tools for personal and career development.
Springboard has been organised over the past month in nine regions of the country.
The event, which had the slogan “One Continent, One message and One Amazing experience” had speakers, including Dr Mensa Otabil, founder of the International Central Gospel Church, (ICGC), Mr Ken Ofori Atta, Executive Director of Databank, Mr Kojo Oppong Nkrumah of Joy FM, Prince Kofi Amoabeng, Chief Executive Officer (C.E.O) of UT Bank, Mr Kweku Sintim Minsa of TGIF fame and Albert and Comfort Ocran, of Legacy and Legacy and Combert Impressions respectively, among others.
Springboard road show, which is in its 5th year, is organised by Legacy and Legacy, a human capital development firm with a focus on helping individuals and organisations to achieve their full productive potentials.
Mr Albert Ocran, Chief Executive Officer of Combert Impressions, speaking on the topic “You are not too young for Africa”, urged the youth to forge the right partnerships for development.
He said any individual have a seed of leadership deposited in him, which needs to be identified gradually.
He noted that, communication was the key to success, adding that, this would enhance and improve on their personal growth and development.
Mr Ocran observed that the issues of personal packaging have been a problem to most of the youth, which prevents them from seizing right opportunities in life.
Dr Mensa Otabil, Chancellor of the Central University College, in a televised message, encouraged the younger generation to engage in “knowledge battle”, for academic progress.
“The attitude of Ghanaians towards reading is poor,” he said.
He encouraged the youth to build on their understanding and momentum to improve on their plight.
For the first time, the event will travel to Banjul, in the Gambia and later to Lagos, Nigeria, after the grand finale in Accra, Ghana.
