FIFA Boss arrives in Khartoum for CAF Congress

Joseph Sepp Blatter, President of world soccer governing body, the Federation of International Football Association, (FIFA) arrived in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum on Tuesday for the 33rd Ordinary General Assembly of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

The FIFA President was welcomed on arrival at the Khartoum International Airport by his CAF counterpart, Issa Hayatou and other high ranking officials of the continent’s soccer governing body.

The annual gathering of football administrators from around the continent will take stock of events during the past and discuss programs of the new season that takes place on February 23 in Khartoum.

Information gathered by GNA Sports has it that Mohammed Bin Hammam and Michel Platini, Presidents of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) are also expected to grace the event.

The high point of the event is the elections for positions on the Executive Committees of both CAF and FIFA.

Kwesi Nyantakyi, President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) is contesting for the Zone West B slot alongside Anjorin Moucharafou of Benin. Fellow contenders Hima Souley of Niger and Togolese Tata Avlessi have withdrawn from the race to replace the retiring General Seyi Memene of Togo.
