Tax relief for workers enhanced

Tax relief for workers including relief for children and dependents have been enhanced as part of the negotiation for the new minimum wage, Mr. Ellis Ankomah, Western Regional Secretary of the Trades Union Congress (TUC), said on Wednesday.

Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Takoradi, he said the bill covering the new minimum wage and the enhanced tax relief would have to be passed into law before the Domestic Tax Revenue Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority could implement the relief.

Mr. Ankomah said details of the tax relief would be made public when the law is passed and the new minimum wage would be used to negotiate for a new base pay for the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS).
