Students urged to lead campaign on clean environment
The headmaster of the Bonwire Senior High Technical (BSHT), in the Ejisu-Juaben Municipality, Mr George Oduro Yeboah, has urged students to 1ead the campaign of keeping the environment clean.
He said they should assist their communities to maintain healthy surroundings, to avoid preventable diseases.
Mr Yeboah was speaking after joining teachers and students of the school in a three-hour clean-up exercise, which involved the clearing of weeds, removal of garbage from gutters and sweeping of the Bonwire community.
This formed part of activities marking the 20th anniversary celebration of the BSHT.
Mr Oduro Yeboah expressed concern about the reckless manner people littered the streets, particularly with plastic waste and refuse and appealed to the district assemblies to take firm measures to deal with the situation.
He said serious attention should also be given to the recycling of plastic waste to reduce the nuisance and protect the environment.
