FDB suspends 3 sachet water producers
The Food and Drugs Board (FDB) has suspended the operations of three sachet water producers for operating without FDB’s registration and producing water under unhygienic conditions, posing risk to public health and safety.
They are Highland Spring located in Tema producing Aquafill Mineral Water, Global Divine Ventures located at Baatsonaa producing Divine Royal Taste Drinking Water and Holy Touch also at Baatsonaa producing Holy Touch Drinking.
A statement signed by Dr Stephen K. Opuni, Chief Executive Officer of FDB in Accra on Thursday said: “The FDB cannot guarantee the safety and quality of these sachet water products since it has not inspected these premises and has never evaluated these products for safety and quality. The public is therefore advised not to patronise them.”
It said wholesalers and retailers were also cautioned to remove all such brands from display immediately.
The statement urged the public not to hesitate to bring to the attention of the FDB any person or persons who might be clandestinely operating sachet water plants, and gave the assurance of its resolve to protect public health and safety.
