Former Black Stars player on coaching course in Germany
Ex-Black Stars midfielder Joachim Yaw Acheampong has left Accra for Germany to participate in the German Football Federation’s coaching course.
The 37-year old joins participants from 25 countries for this year’s edition of the annual event to be held in Hennef from 4-22 April, 2011.
The intensive course organized by the German Football Federation (DFB) supported by the German Federal Foreign Office is to equip participants with latest trends in coaching.
Francis Oti-Akenteng, Technical Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) told GNA Sports in Accra that Acheampong’s involvement for the programmes stems from the long-standing relationship with their German counterparts.
He said the course will provide enough experience for the former Real Sociedad midfielder, who holds a CAF License B coaching certificate.
“The course will be good for him and it will afford him to interact and learn with colleagues from other parts of the world.”
Oti-Akenteng mentioned that Maxwell Konadu, Coach of Wa All Stars, Tanko Ibrahim of Hearts of Oak, Mas-ud Dramani Didi of the Black Queens, Ben Forkuo of the Black Princesses and Abrahams Allotey of the Black Maidens have all benefited from the annual programme.
Participants will be presented with the International DFB Coaching Certificates at the end of the course.
Meanwhile, Black Stars goalkeepers’ trainer, Edward Ansah will leave for South Africa later this month to attend the FIFA Goalkeepers Instructors course while Black Queens deputy coach, Dramani Didi would also be making it for the CAF Instructors Course in Morocco.
