Minister appeals to assembly members to demand quality work
Mr Paul E. Aidoo, the Western Regional Minister, has appealed to assembly members to be vigilant and demand quality from contractors.
“You cannot sit unconcerned and allow contractors and artisans entrusted with projects to undertake shoddy works in your communities,” he said.
Mr. Aidoo said this when he cut the sod for the construction of a multi-purpose office complex for the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal Assembly at Tarkwa.
The project, valued at GH¢1.3 million, is expected to be completed in 17 months.
Mr. Aidoo said many projects funded by the government had been shoddily done and had either developed cracks or needed rehabilitation to make it useful.
“This has happened because of our apathy to supervise and monitor ongoing projects which has led to the loss of several millions of Ghana cedis”.
Mr. Aidoo told the assembly members to take inventory of all projects within their locality to enable them follow up till they are completed.
Mrs Christina Kobinnah, Municipal Chief Executive of the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal, said the assembly hall complex had become necessary since the present assembly is scattered in three different parts of Tarkwa and makes coordination of activities difficult.
