More support for President Mills in NDC primaries
The Central Region branch of the United Cadre Front has thrown its weight behind President John Atta Mills as the National Democratic Congress (NDC) heads for its congress in July to elect a flag bearer for the 2012 election.
A statement signed by Mr John Abeiku Aggrey, Regional Convener, said: “The Central Regional Cadres after reflecting on the current political equation within the National Democratic Congress have decided to throw their full support behind His Excellency the President, Prof. John Evans Atta Mills.”
President Mills is set to contest the flag bearer position with former First lady Nana Konadu Agyenman Rawlings during the Congress scheduled for Sunyani.
They said they were declaring their support for the President based on the fact that it was during his leadership that the party had seen real political transformation, becoming democratic devoid of intimidation and dictatorship.
“Again it was during his flagbearership that cadres in the party were given recognition which has been translated into their being appointed to top positions after the 2008 election victory.”
The cadres assured the President that he had their full support and called on all cadres in the party to throw their support behind him.
“Our clarion call is that Fellow Cadres the Atta Mills Government has been sincere with us. Let us give him our support and stand up against all those undermining the Mills administration,” the statement said.
