Service personnel urged to be dedicated to duties
Mr Vincent Senam Kuagbenu, the Executive Director of the National Service Scheme (NSS), has urged personnel of the Scheme to be dedicated to their duties and volunteer their services for the benefit of communities in which they serve.
He said people in deprived areas needed the services of exuberant and youthful graduates to help in solving the developmental challenges in their communities.
Mr Kuagbenu made the call at the opening of a three-day national workshop on leadership and management training organized jointly by the NSS and the EMPRETEC Ghana Foundation for regional executives of the National Service Personnel Association (NASPA) in Kumasi on Monday.
The workshop was to enhance capacities of the executives and to help them to strategically and competently manage their colleagues.
He announced that the Scheme would soon come out with graduate entrepreneurial development programme to provide personnel with the skills needed for self employment as a means of addressing graduate unemployment problem in the country.
Mr Kuagbenu said techniques in practical agriculture for personnel would be one of the areas to promote skills development.
He said they would also be trained set up their own private businesses as part of efforts to reduce the loss of the country’s human resource through brain drain.
Mr Kwesi Quainoo, Ashanti Regional Director of the Scheme urged the participants to take the workshop seriously to enable them to make impact on their areas of operation and make the nation proud
Mr Abdul-Kabiru Tiah Mahama, NASPA National President, said the workshop would enable them to add value to themselves and enhance their capabilities.
He added that it would also make them attractive and competitive on the job market.
