African business leaders to meet in Accra

The issue of how Africa can turn its challenges into opportunities through business renewal would be the focus of the 7th edition of the African Business Leaders Forum (ABLF) slated for Accra later this year.

The three-day conference scheduled for November 10-12, 2011 would enable participants to debate business development options while drawing lessons from the experiences of local and international experts.

Mrs Edith Dankwa, Executive Director, Business and Financial Times, said at a forum in Accra on Wednesday that the 2011 forum would seek to advance the need for the pursuit of development and economic transformation for the continent.

“ABLF 2011 will engender strategic collaborations between African business leaders on the continent and their compatriots in the Diaspora to revolutionise Africa’s development agenda for a massive socio-economic turnaround,” she said.

Launched some eight years ago, the ABLF aims at addressing leadership issues in Africa through creating a platform for proactive and practical responses to current challenges facing the continent.

The Forum has grown to become the key gathering points of Africa’s most distinguished senior business leaders, public sector decision-makers and entrepreneurs.

Since its inception, the ABLF has attracted more than 3,000 high profile business leaders, middle-level executives and youth leaders from 38 African countries.

The 2011 event will include 20 sessions of leadership learning, one-on-one meetings with African business leaders in Europe, African Women in leadership workshop, among others.

Mrs Dankwa lauded the support of Vodafone Ghana as title sponsors for the event.

The 2011 forum is on the theme: “Enhancing Africa’s Business Opportunities through Effective Public Private Partnerships.”
