PZ Cussons sponsors Best Licensed Chemical Sellers Awards
Mr Michael Kudebong, Greater Accra Regional Manager of Pharmacy Council, on Tuesday said advancement of Information Communication Technology (ICT) on pharmacy practice and healthcare was being transformed into a big network.
“ICT has a tremendous effect on pharmacy practice by knocking down trade barriers and opening up channels for supply that were previously unimaginable. As a result we have become more productive,” he added.
Mr Kudebong made the observation at the third Best Licensed Chemical Sellers Awards held in Accra on Tuesday.
Three Licensed Chemical Sellers were honoured. They were Mr Edward Ampadu from Abeka Lapaz Zone; who received a double door fridge and a certificate, Mr Daniel Adjetey from Madina zone; who took home a gas cooker and a certificate and Madam Beatrice Nartey from Nima zone who received a television set and a certificate.
It was organised by the Greater Accra Regional Branch of Ghana Licensed Chemical Sellers Association (GLSCA), and sponsored by PZ Cussons to encourage members to keep their shops neat, have appropriate signboard, drug arrangement on shelves and better record keeping.
Mr Kudebong encouraged the members to take advantage of the wealth of information to compete for attention on the information super highway, saying it was time to celebrate excellence in medicine storage and retrieval, excellence in pharmaceutical service provision, quality in providing the appropriate ventilation and neatness in shops and personal character.
“These attributes intersect, reinforce each other in ensuring that medicines are dispensed and used appropriately,” he added.
Mr Kudebong said the council was committed to create a favourable environment for the professional development of all pharmaceutical care taking advantage of technology.
“To strengthen our overall competitiveness in this era of globalisation, it is vital that we keep up with the latest trends in pharmacy and pharmacy practice,” he added.
Mr Moses Sasraku, Regional Chairman of GLSCA, said the Association had undergone a lot of transformation over the years and in addition, benefited immensely from stakeholders in the pharmaceutical industry.
He said members had also benefited in areas of customer relations and communication skills to boost their practice in the communities, and called on members to adhere to the associations’ rules and regulation and motivate their colleagues to join the body for a unified licensed chemical front.
Ms Ida Nyanor, Assistant Brand Manager, PZ Cussons Robb pharmaceuticals, noted that management spent GH¢15,000 to sponsor the awards and hoped for more partnership between them.
“We hope to build cordial relations that would help move PZ Cussons and GLCSA to achieve the desired vision,” she added.
