Kasoa Health Centre records increased HIV/AIDS cases in 2010

HIV/AIDS cases at the Kasoa health Centre increased from 20 in 2009 to 35 in 2010, Mr George Asante, Medical Assistant at the Centre has said.

They were made up of 9 males and 26 females while that of the 2009 was made up 9 and 11.

Mr Asante made this known at a durbar, to brief the public of their achievements, challenges, and to receive suggestions towards the provision of quality health delivery to the people.

He appealed to the people to mindful of their sexual habit to help reduce the trend.

The Medical Assistant expressed regret that despite the education to the people to keep their surrounding clean, malaria continues to top cases brought to the facility.

According to him out of 46,435 people who reported at the centre in 2010, 8,890 of them, representing 23.0 percent were diagnosed to have malaria.

He urged the people to adhere to medical advice to enable them to live longer.

Mr Asante mentioned the lack of an Ambulance and inadequate working space, as some of the challenges facing the facility.

He said the Centre has created one CHIP Zone at Papase, increasing the number to three in the district, conducted one client satisfactory survey and organized refresher courses for Traditional Birth Attendants (TBAs) and Community Based Surveillance Voluntary Groups (CBSVG), as some of achievements made during the year under review.

He appealed to philanthropists and other benevolent organizations to support the facility, to enable it to effectively provide quality health care services to the people.
