Correction: Nearly $1 trillion lost to corruption globally – World Bank
Every year, nearly one trillion dollars is lost to corruption around the world, a communications specialist at the World Bank Ghana Country Office has said citing the Bretton Woods institution’s report.
The official, Mr Kofi Tsikata, was cited in a GNA report as saying that a report from the Bank revealed that nearly one trillion dollars was lost through corruption and fraud globally every year.
The loss, he was reported to have said was as a result of the reluctance of some officials to help eradicate the canker from the society, which was also affecting business entities.
He called on heads of institutions in Ghana to embark on regular check ups to find out about the trend and get rid of all ghost names on their pay rolls to help build a better nation for all, the report said.
