Ghana Football Association to set up Ethics Committee

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has advanced plans for the constitution of an Ethics Committee to tackle issues of acts corruption bedeviling the local game.

Kwesi Nyantakyi, President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) said discussions have reached the ultimate to have the Ethics Committee as one of the arms of Ghana football.

He told GNA Sports after his endorsement for a second term at the Extraordinary Congress on Friday, at Prampram that the Executive Committee has approved the formation of the Committee and it will be put before Congress at its Ordinary session on August 4.

The GFA President said the Committee will be composed of persons with track record of good moral standing who would be tasked with defined responsibilities and targets.

He said the birth of the Committee is geared towards increasing transparency in his second term of office.

Nyantakyi added that club officials and administrators who accuse others on corruption charges will be made to substantiate those allegations with the formation of the Ethics Committee.

“People who make such allegations will be called to substantiate with facts to convince us and we will explore all avenues to solve such rumours.”

The GFA President described as unfortunate when people label football administrators as corrupt without evidence to support their claims.

“Once you are in football, people presume you are corrupt until proven guilty, instead of the vice-versa.”

Nyantakyi expressed optimism that the establishment of the Committee will largely aid in the cleaning up of the game to an enviable height.
