Moderator of EP Church commends NDC for successful congress

Right Reverend Francis Amenu, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, on Sunday congratulated National Democratic Congress for a successful delegates’ Congress last Saturday.

He commended the leadership of the party for instituting democratic principles and structures that guided the orderly conduct and outcome of the Congress.

Right Reverend Amenu gave the commendation at a graduation and commissioning of a group of nine catechists and four Church musicians, who graduated from the E.P. University College and Seminary at the Greenhill Campus, Peki on Saturday.

He urged the contending parties at the Congress to be magnanimous irrespective of how they fared because “Ghana is bigger than any party or individuals.”

A total of 96.9 per cent of the estimated 300 delegates at the Congress endorsed incumbent President John Evans Atta Mills as the Party’s Presidential Candidate for the upcoming 2012 elections, whilst Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings former first Lady had 3.1 per cent.

Preaching the sermon on the theme: “The worthy fruit bearers of God’s Word,” Right Reverend Amenu urged workers of the Church to avoid self glorification and the temptation to undo each other.

He said whether as catechists, pastors or presbyters, all must co-operate and work together in realizing the goal of the mission and ministry of God.

“As catechists you are the captains of the Church who must help the Pastors and not undermine them.”

He said those trained to be musicians in the Church must be devoted to their calling because music was a medium for ministering to the soul in times of sorrow, difficulties and of praise to God.

Right Reverend Amenu exhorted them to seek God’s strength and inspiration from the Holy Spirit through constant prayers, reading and study of the Gospel.
