Operators of Liquefied Petroleum Gas schooled in advocacy

Members of the Ghana Liquefied Petroleum Gas Operators Association (GLPGOA), have pledged to collaborate with state agencies in finding a lasting solution to the problem of unstable supply and distribution of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) in the country.

This was at the end of a five-day training programme in Tema, to equip 25 members of GLPGOA with knowledge and skills needed for effective advocacy on LPG.

The participants called for the mainstreaming of LPG supply and distribution to limit the use of wood fuel to save the country’s forests from depletion.

They expressed concern about the low margins fixed by the regulatory agencies without recourse to their input, and in the face of high operating cost.

The participants resolved to step up efforts at improving standards to ensure safety, good health and sound environmental practices, to the benefit of members of the Association and the various communities in which they operated.

Ms Ama Lokko, Co-ordinator of GLPGOA, lauded the positive roles of the BUSAC Fund, and the development partners, towards national development, through their support for the private sector.
