Assemblyman appeals for road signs

Mr Emmanuel Opoku-Wiafe, bAssemblyman for Busunya New Town Electoral Area in Nkoranza North District, has appealed to the Ministry of Roads and Highways to erect road signs on the Nkoranza-Kintampo highway to minimize road accidents.

Mr Opoku-Wiafe told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Nkoranza there had been frequent accidents at the Asekye-Krukese Nkoranza road.

He said the absence of road signs to guide drivers were the major contributed factor to the rampant accidents.

Mr Opoku-Wiafe suggested the need for the Ministry of Roads and highways to erect pillars at the Fia River Bridge on the road to protect vehicles from driving into the valley along the bridge.

Mr Opoku-Wiafe said if similar road signs were erected at other accident prone areas such as the high hill at Bodom and the wooden bridge over River Tanfi at Tanfiano number one, it would help control accidents.

Mr Opoku-Wiafe expressed concern about the poor state of the feeder roads in the newly created District and appealed to the government to help rehabilitate them.
