Government to drill 72 boreholes in Lawra District
Deprived communities in the Lawra District will benefit from 72 boreholes under the Ghana Government Boreholes Project, Mr. Samson Abu, the Lawra District Chief Executive, has said. (DCE) disclosed this during the Assembly’s first ordinary meeting at Lawra.
Addressing the first ordinary session of the Assembly, he said the list of communities to benefit had already been forwarded to the Community Water and Sanitation Agency (CWSA) Regional Directorate for further action.
Mr. Abu said the Assembly had also almost completed the necessary processes to rehabilitate about 35 broken down boreholes in the district.
He acknowledged the support given to the Assembly in the area of water and sanitation by Global Water Initiative (GWI) in collaboration with the Catholic Relieve Services (CRS) and Care International Ghana.
Mr Abu said this year GWI, apart from earmarking to drill five boreholes for the district, would also be assisting communities in the district to review the Community Action Plans (CAPs) on water and sanitation.
GWI donated a computer and its accessories to the District Water and Sanitation Team to assist in data collection and storage.
“GWI has again in this year provided us two dug-outs located at Dabagteng and Methor Yiripaal”, he said and expressed gratitude to GWI and its collaborators for the support.
