We would clean the police service – DCOP Timbillah

Ghana Police Headquarters

The Ashanti Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP), Patrick Timbillah, has pledged the resolve of the hierarchy to clean the service of corrupt and other negative practices.

He said a number of measures had been instituted to ensure the maintenance of high professional standards and deal decisively with deviant behaviour.

He warned that no police officer would be allowed to get away with any bad conduct that is likely to hurt the image of the service.

DCOP Timbillah was speaking at the fourth anniversary celebration of the “Course 40 Association of the Ghana Police Service”,  held in the Ejisu-Juaben Municipality.

The theme was “Deepening Police Integrity – The role of the Jubilee Course (Course 40).”

DCOP Timbillah urged his colleague commanders and senior officers to show total commitment to the goal of transforming the image of the service to win public confidence and support.

Mrs Linda Baaba Ofori-Kwafo of Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII), a local organization of Transparency International (TI), noted that corruption was a national issue and all would have to act together to fight it.

She said it was important to have functional code of conduct to regulate the conduct of all public and civil servants.

Those in leadership positions must become good examples to their subordinates.
