NADMO receives support to aid flood victims
The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) on Tuesday received drugs, valued at GH¢10,672 from Socomex Pharmacy Limited (Shalina) to help treat flood victims who contract water-borne diseases.
The drugs included 300,000 antibiotics, 15,000 multivitamins, 120,000 antacids and 40,000 tablets of analgesics.
Receiving the items, Mr Sylvester Azantilow, Deputy National Coordinator of Administration of NADMO, noted that floods were usually associated with water borne diseases.
He stated: “In as much as we offer food, clothes and other relief items to these persons, we have to also keep in mind that these victims deserve to have good lives and be treated of any illness that might occur as a result of the flood, so we welcome this initiative from the company.
Mr Azantilow expressed gratitude to the company for their kind initiative and urged other philanthropists and organizations to emulate the gesture.
Mr Vinit Chaudhari, Business Manager of Socomex Pharmacy Limited, an Accra-based pharmaceutical company, said the company saw it as a duty to give back to the society hence their support for the flood victims.
He expressed the hope that that the good relationship that had been established with NADMO would be maintained to help sustain the good work the company had started.
