About 64,657 mobile phone subscribers register with MNP
The National Communications Authority (NCA) on Tuesday said about 64,657 mobile phone subscribers in Ghana took advantage of the Mobile Number Portability (MNP) to move from one mobile service provider to another whilst retaining their mobile number by the end of August.
A statement issued in Accra said this was eight weeks after the commencement of the MNP.
It said available statistics indicated that 43,598 requests completed during the month, six per cent of them were completed in 15 minutes or less, 30 per cent between 15 minutes and an hour, while 29 per cent completed between one and four hours.
The statement said 34 per cent were completed between four and 24 hours, one per cent completed in more than 24 hours and the average time was four hours 16 minutes.
It noted that after the expiration of their 30-day mandatory waiting period, 515 subscribers elected to port back to their previous service provider.
“This implies that the vast majority of customers who have ported are, for the time being satisfied with their decision,” it added.
The NCA reminded all porting customers that the network they had chosen to join was responsible to resolve all issues that might arise during or after the porting process.
