MTTU personnel urged to remain vigilant
Mr James Sarfo-Peprah, Eastern Regional Commander of the Motor Traffic Transport Unit (MTTU), has advised personnel of the unit to remain vigilant in their professional duties of checking road traffic offenders.
He said that was the only way to ensure safety on the roads in the country.
Mr Sarfo-Peprah said this after his outfit had taken police recruits through a practical road traffic education and management program in the New Juaben Municipality.
He said during the training the recruits were taken through causes and effects of road accidents, accidents investigation theory and terminologies in road safety management.
The rest include point of impact, point of deviation, resultant position and visit to the mortuary to witness post-mortem examination.
Mr Sarfo-Peprah said one significant aspect of the training was that all traffic lights within the New Juaben Municipality were shut down by the Department of Urban Roads to enable the recruits to learn traffic management and control.
He urged them not to be aggressive on road users since that did not promote cordial relationships amongst them.
Mr Sarfo-Peprah urged the police to see drivers as partners in road safety management and advised them to show respect to the public on the roads.
He commended personnel of the unit for working hard to ensure that road accidents were reduced in the region and added that any police officer found to have behave unprofessionally would be sanctioned.
