Wa Municipal Health Directorate to screen government workers
As part of efforts to control non-communicable diseases, the Wa Municipal Health Directorate has formed a task force to contact and screen workers of various Ministries Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in the Upper West Capital city.
The workers would have their body mass index calculated, blood sugar and blood pressure levels tested, counselling and testing for HIV/AIDS and referrals made.
In a circular letter issued and signed by Madam Theresa Tampie, Acting Municipal Director of Health Service, to heads of departments and security agencies in the Municipality, it indicated that the exercise would commence on September 22 and end on September 24.
Madam Tampie explained that the exercise has become necessary because many people die needlessly because they are always too busy at work and did not have time to check their basic health information.
She said before such people get to realize about their poor health situation, it would have been too late to save their situation hence the introduction of the screening exercise to help save lives and enhance productivity at workplaces.
