Prof. Aryeetey joins World Bank panelists to discuss Africa’s growth on job creation
The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana, Professor Ernest Aryeetey will be joining a World Bank panel to deliberate on Africa’s growth that can deliver jobs.
The discussion on the theme “Africa Needs Growth that Delivers Jobs” will take place September 24, 2011 via World Bank Africa’s live stream between 11:00am – 12:00pm.
“This session will bring together academics, private sector actors, policymakers from other regions and African officials to discuss and debate what it will take to make Africa’s growth work for its young people,” said the Bank on its Facebook page.
Other invited speakers, according to the World Bank are Aliko Dangote, President/CEO, Dangote Group, Nigeria; Maria Kiwanuka, Minister of Finance, Uganda; Santiago Levy Algazi , Vice-President Sector and Knowledge, IDB and Bethlehem Tilahun Alemu, Managing Director, soleRebels, Ethiopia.
Africa’s decade-long growth has led to considerable optimism about the continent’s prospects, yet Africa faces daunting challenges, especially for the 7-10 million young people entering the labor force every year, said the World Bank.
The general public can participate in the discussion by sending questions/comments via Facebook or “join us the day-of and have your questions answered by the speakers,” the Bank says.
The moderator for the session is Lerato Mbele, a broadcaster at CNBC Africa.
