Vodafone Ghana fails to stream live Trey Songz’s performance at 020 concert via mobile phones
Vodafone Ghana fails to keep promise of streaming Trey Songz live on mobile phones.
Before the said event, Vodafone Ghana said it will stream live on mobile phones all the performances by artistes billed for the 020Live concert which was held in Accra last Tuesday September 20, 2011.
Vodafone, organisers of the concert, announced via their Facebook page “Show goes Live in 20 minutes……www.vodafone020live.mobi … only on mobile phones.”
Performances by VIP, 5Five, D-Cyrme, Stay Jay and RnM were all streamed live but not without difficulties as users complained about the mobile application.
But unfortunately Vodafone failed to stream live the performance of the main act of the night, American singer Trey Songz as it promised.
According to the company, it was due to some technical hitches.
“Due to technical issues, we will not be able to stream Trey Songz performance live as we promised. Every inconvenience is heavily regretted!!” it said on its Facebook page.
Immediately it announced failure of the streaming, Vodafone received some sharp criticisms from its Facebook members who were disappointed.
“This very much intentional, Gh ppl are always promised with great stuff den buuuuuf….things change just like dat……how can u do dat??????” one member said.
Another member said “oh ghana when wud we eva learn”.
After such criticisms, Vodafone explained by saying “apologies we have no control over the feed being pulled due to technical-there are rights issues as well preventing us from streaming.”
The motive for the streaming by Vodafone is to allow the general public to watch the show on their mobile phones since tickets for the show sold out.
Prior to the streaming, some members of the public were skeptical about the plan due to knowledge about low internet speed in this country.
This is the first time a concert is been streamed live in Ghana.
