Man fined for careless driving
A Tarkwa circuit court has fined a 51 year-old driver, Awudu Musah, a sum of GH¢180 or in default 6 months imprisonment in hard labour for careless driving.
He pleaded guilty.
Prosecuting, Detective Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah told the court presided over by Mr. Samuel Obeng Diawuo that on March 30, at about 9:00 am, the accused person was in charge of unregistered Hyundai H200 with trade plate number DP 4665 travelling from Tarkwa towards Takoradi.
He said on reaching a section of the road at Nsueam town, he knocked down a nine years old female pedestrian.
Detective Amponsah said the victim sustained injuries and was rushed to the Nsueam Health Centre for treatment but was later referred to Tarkwa Government Hospital for further treatment.
According to the Prosecutor, the accused person after investigation was charged with the offence.
In passing judgement, the judge however considered the fact that, the accused person paid the medical bills as well as compensation of GH¢1,000 to the victim.
