Ghana’s midfielder Sulley Muntari says he is set to grab and hang on tight to a window of hope that has opened up for him at Inter Milan in his quest to break into the first team.

Muntari who has had a torrid time at Inter the past year under three different coaches played 25 minutes in the club’s Serie A game against Bologna and says the chance has just come in time to aid his planned ascendancy.

The creative left footer who was declared surplus to requirement by sacked coach, Gian Piero Gasperini believes the window of opportunity opened by new trainer, Claudio Raineri is a prayer answered.

He told GNA Sports from his base in Italy that “I am excited that I had the opportunity to play today; and was even better that we won. I yearn to work hard to keep my place in the team and ensure that we win the league.”

The 27 year-old picked out Lucio with a fine pass for the latter to score the third goal as his side won 3-1.

Muntari had been reduced to a benchwarmer under Gasperini who dropped him from the Champions League squad but his performance against Bologna means he could be working his way into Raineri’s plan.

The win, a positive start for Raineri is one that delights the former Portsmouth player.

“It was very important for us to have won this game and I seek to give it my all and help the team by working hard to gain an influential role to play regularly under Claudio Raneiri.”

The player is preoccupied with winning the supporters over with hard work and performance with his sight firmly placed on working his way back into the Club’s UEFA Champions League squad next January when the window opens.

Muntari was at the center of many transfer rumors but the player snubbed all offers to stay on at the San Siro to fight for his place.
