British oil producer, and lead partner at Ghana’s Jubilee oil field, Tullow Oil Plc has announced yet another oil discovery in Ghana.
In a press release issued Wednesday September 28, 2011 and copied to ghanabusinessnews.com, Tullow announces that the Enyenra-3A appraisal well, in the Deepwater Tano licence offshore Ghana, has successfully encountered oil in high quality sandstone reservoirs. Pressure data indicates that the Enyenra-3A well has confirmed an up-dip extension of the Enyenra oil field.
The well which is located 6.5km north of the Owo-1 discovery well and 14km north of Enyenra-2A, according to Tullow was drilled to test the up-dip extent of the Enyenra oil field.
It indicates that results of drilling, wireline logs, samples of reservoir fluids and pressure data show that Enyenra-3A has intersected 17 metres of 35o API net oil. Pressure data confirms a continuous oil column of at least 365 metres and that the oil at Enyenra-3A is in static pressure communication with both the Owo-1 discovery well and the Enyenra-2A appraisal well, Tullow adds.
Meanwhile, in its half-yearly results for the six months ended June 30, 2011, Tullow said oil production from Ghana’s largest oil field, the Jubilee oil field has significantly driven up its oil revenue to over $1 billion.
Commercial oil production at the Jubilee field began December 15, 2010 and according to Tullow, over 15 million barrels of oil have been produced so far and 15 oil cargoes have been exported.
In an email sent to ghanabusinessnews.com, Tullow indicates that the Jubilee field is now producing around 85,000 barrels of oil per day ( bopd) with over 75 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) of gas being re-injected.
“A total of 17 wells have been drilled to date of which 14 have been completed and brought on line,” the oil producer adds.
According to Tullow, this total consists of eight oil production wells, five water injection wells and one gas injector well. The final production well is expected to be brought on stream in October, taking Jubilee production to 105,000 bopd.
Jubilee was expected to have reached plateau production of 120,000 bopd in August, but that target won’t be reached till the end of the year.
Tullow says plateau production of 120,000 bopd gross is now expected to be reached by the end of the year following the sidetrack of an existing production well.

the government of ghana recieved,and total sales of that 22 million barrel of oil.
I just pray ghana will take good care of our economy because many countries have turn to curruption infected countries because of this oil. We know our country is blessed with peace and harmony bt i just pray this shouln’t be a curse to our mother ghana. Good management to the countries natural resources should the main policy and campaign to politicians.
