Managing Director of Ecelprint denies GNA story

Mr Kumi Tutu Amankwah, Managing Director of Excelprint Limited in Sunyani, has described a Ghana News Agency (GNA) report that “NDC (National Democratic Congress) awards contract to its faithful”, as inaccurate and biased.

He said the story attributed to him was an attempt calculated to ruin the reputation of his company.

Mr Amankwah told the GNA in Sunyani that the news story “was a complete distortion of facts”.

He said what he said in the previous story was that the practice where contracts were awarded to party faithful had persisted for a very long time.

“The practice does not happen during any particular ruling political party’s tenure in office but a characteristic of all ruling parties since Ghana’s independence,” he said.

He explained that the concern he expressed was a general complaint and wondered why only the ruling NDC was mentioned in the news item.

Mr Amankwah said neither him nor his company was aligned to any political party and expressed his displeasure with the said news item, which he said tended to portray him as opposed to the NDC.

“The GNA reporter gave me the impression that the interview with me was for research and academic purposes and not for public consumption.”

Meanwhile, the Management of Brong-Ahafo Regional office of GNA has apologised to Mr Amankwah for any inconvenience the news item might have caused him in person and company.
