District targets 14 schools for school feeding program

Mr Robert Wisdom Cudjoe, District Chief Executive for Prestea Huni Valley District, has said the Assembly has targeted to include fourteen additional schools in the ongoing school feeding programme.

He said the program which started from a pilot basis of two schools in the District, expanded to cover five schools in 2009 and this increased enrolment from 1,431 to 1,856 pupils.

Mr Cudjoe said the programme with its original objective of focusing on deprived rural schools is currently carrying an expansion exercise with the aim of increasing the number of pupils of the beneficiary schools.

Mr Cudjoe called on beneficiary schools and communities to demonstrate their commitment by helping to construct kitchens for the preparation of food for the children.
