Stakeholders of education urged to ensure proper supervision
Ms Adriana Kandilige, Eastern Regional Director of Education, has appealed to regional managers of mission schools and all stakeholders of education to ensure proper supervision and firm control over their schools.
She also urged them to collaborate with District and Municipal Directors of Education to monitor the performances of their schools so that they would be in a better position to take appropriate steps to rectify any shortcomings.
Ms Kandilige was speaking at a Catholic Teachers education durbar at Nkawkaw on Wednesday.
The durbar was to afford the hierarchy of the Catholic Church the opportunity to interact with teachers in the Catholic Schools with the view to improving performance in their schools.
She observed that the products of Catholic Schools often in later life had demonstrated that the Catholic type of education did not only equip them with book knowledge but also with high moral and spiritual grounding.
Ms Kandilige urged all to uphold and strengthen the faith in the church’s contribution to the society.
Mr Clemence Baba, Acting Regional Manager of Catholic Schools, urged Catholic teachers to create an atmosphere characterized by the acquisition of values and the discovery of truth, as well as the assimilation of skills, knowledge, instructional methods and moral and social education for the young ones under their care.
“Anything short of this would certainly militate against the purpose for which the school has been established”, he added.
The Most Reverend Joseph Afrifa-Agyekum, Catholic Bishop of Koforidua Diocese, appealed to the Ghana Education Service (GES) and school authorities not to allow the inclusion of teachers in the recruitment of officials for the up-coming Biometric voters registration exercise.
He observed that the inclusion of teachers for the exercise would negatively affect teaching and learning.
