Don’t indulge in criminal activities, youth cautioned

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Richard Nana Asoma, Commander of the Tema Railways and Ports Police unit, has advised the youth to guard against criminal activities since that could land them into trouble.

ACP Asoma’s advice is contained in a statement issued by the Public Affairs Unit of the Tema Regional Police Command, in which a case of conspiracy to commit crime is being investigated.

The statement said had it not been for the vigilance of officers on duty at the Railways and Ports Police Station last Saturday, October 8, an 18-year-old girl would have succeeded in smuggling into the police cells, a substance suspected to be Indian hemp.

The statement recalled that at about 17.30 hours on the day in question, the girl known as Owusuaa, alias Maame Esi, a resident of Community One, called at the station with a pack of banku meant for an inmate.

It further recalled that upon a thorough examination by the officer on duty, three wrappers of a substance suspected to be Indian hemp, which were hidden in a pack of banku, were discovered.

The statement said Owusuaa was subsequently arrested and upon interrogation, she disclosed to the Police that she was sent by one Michael Bimpong, to give the food containing the substance to Daniel Kodie, a notorious criminal being held by the police for robbery.
