Air Liquide Foundation, the development wing of Air Liquide SA, based in France, has presented Eremon Senior High Technical School with a new GH¢25,000.00 Information and Communications Technology (ICT) facility.
The donation, which was an initiative of the Accra-Tema branch of Eremon Youth Development Association, included 14 computers and their accessories, including desks, chairs, projector and a printer.
Mr Nicolas Daoust, Air Liquide Business Development Manager in charge of Western and Central Africa, said at the inauguration of the facility at Eremon in the Lawra District of the Upper West Region, that the facility would help the students to develop their ICT application skills.
He said Air Liquide’s commitment to addressing human and social issues was certain and that since its creation in April 2008, the group had engaged in philanthropic activities, especially in the area of preserving the environment and human lives.
Mr Daoust said with a budget of nearly three million Euros spread over five years, the Air Liquide Foundation has established the necessary framework to help in allocating the appropriate resources to its philanthropic initiatives.
He said in line with its sustainable development approach, the Foundation had decided to focus on the environment, healthcare and community development.
Mr Daoust commended the Youth Association and appealed to the staff and students of the school to take good care of the facility.
Mr Felix Sibiri, the Headmaster of the school, said ICT training was an educational policy in the country, aimed at promoting education and commended the Air Liquide Foundation and the Youth Association for donating the facility to the school.
He promised that the ICT equipment would be maintained to ensure its long span and said the facility would help students to develop their ICT application skills and improve on their academic performance.
