Ghana Black Stars soar in FIFA rankings
Ghana has moved four places up in the latest FIFA/Coca-Cola World rankings released by the global body on Wednesday.
Ghana moved from 37 to occupy the 33rd position in the monthly rankings, which according to the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) was fashioned out by 136 qualifying matches.
The October edition culled by GNA Sports centered on the qualifying matches for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil and the other continental championships.
The Black Stars, according to the ranking gained 34 points to amass a total of 734 points after beating Sudan in the African Cup of Nation’s Gabon/Equatorial Guinea’s qualifier and for drawing with the Super Eagles of Nigeria in an international friendly this month in Britain.
Ghana’s position on the African continent as the third best team, however, remained unchanged.
The Stars are behind Cote D’Voire and Egypt in that order on the continental rankings.
