Road users in Upper East Region cautioned
Mr Dennis Yeribu, acting Upper East Regional Officer of the Road Safety Commission, on Friday day said the region recorded 22 deaths from 61 reported cases of road accidents involving 63 vehicles during the last six months.
Mr Yerbu who gave these provisional figures in Bolgatanga in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, said out of that number, 39 victims sustained various degrees of injuries.
He said the Commission in collaboration with its stakeholders was intensifying road safety campaign to reduce road accidents, and asked lorry drivers, motor bike riders and other road users to respect traffic regulations.
Mr Yerbu said that donkeys and donkey carts remained major means of transport in some rural areas in the region, and users would be given reflective stickers to alert other road users of their presence.
