Asuogyaman District adjudged leader in School Feeding Program
Mr Johnson Ahiakpor, the Asuogyaman District Chief Executive has said the District has been adjudged as the best in implementing the School Feeding Program during the district audit conducted last year.
The audit which was conducted by the Ministry of Finance and the School Feeding Program, looked at the quality of food served to the children, the neatness of the kitchen where the food was prepared and how the kitchen staff handled the food for the children.
Mr Johnson Ahiakpor said this on Wednesday in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Atimpoku.
He said since 2009, the number of school children benefiting from the school feeding program in the district had increased from 1,385 to 4,486 and the number of schools covered also increased from six to 18.
Mr Ahiakpor said the expansion of the school feeding program in the district had also led to an increase in school enrolment in places like Kudikope Primary School where enrolment increased from 70 to 130 and Frankadua Baptist Primary School where enrolment rose from 171 to 250 pupils within three weeks.
Mr William Kofi Asante, the Desk Officer for the Asuogyaman School Feeding Program, said as a result of that high performance the model of the district was to be adopted as the national standard.
