Clergyman calls for church-state partnership for socio-economic development

Monsignor Dr John Opoku-Agyeman, Rector of the Saint Gregory  the Great Provincial Major Seminary at Parkoso in the Ejisu-Juaben Municipality, has advocated church-state partnership for socio-economic development of  society.

He said there was the need for the church and other organisations, government and operators of the private sector to collaborate to transform the lives of the people.

Monsignor Dr Opoku-Agyeman said the mass to mark the first anniversary of the St Theresa of the Child Jesus, a group that contributes to the upkeep of priests and development of the Catholic Church, at Parkoso.

He said the church should be concerned about the spiritual development and wellbeing of the people, and which demands helping to provide them with employable skills and infrastructure development.

Monsignor Dr Opoku-Agyeman pledged that the Catholic Church would continue to support education, health and access to good drinking water among others.

The Metropolitan Catholic Archbishop of Kumasi, the Most Reverend Kwaku Mensah, called for tolerance, unity and love among the people and said they  should” reject ethnicity and religious divisions and pool resources towards development for the common good of society.”
