Pobiman residents cry for water
The concerned citizens of Pobiman near Amasaman have appealed to the Amasaman Municipal Assembly in the Ga West and philanthropists to help them with the provision of boreholes to solve their water problem.
Briefing the Ghana News Agency after a meeting, the chairman of the Concerned Citizens Association, Mr Samuel Mensah said the only borehole that served the people had been claimed by the former Assembly woman for the area, Mrs Nii Armah as her personal property after losing the seat about a year ago.
He said the situation had compelled the people of Pobiman and it surrounding communities to travel long distances in search of water and was having an adverse effect on school children especially, who often had to forego their classes.
Mr Mensah said an urgent solution must be found now otherwise the situation would be worsened when the harmattan season set in.
He called on the Assembly and benevolent societies to come to their aid.
