New NALAG President, Ebenezer Akuoko Frimpong sworn-in
The new President of the National Association of Local Authorities of Ghana (NALAG), Mr Ebenezer Akuoko Frimpong, has been sworn-in as a member of Local Government Service Council.
Mr F.N. Andan, Chairman of Local Government Service Council, who swore in the new member, asked him not to use his new position to champion parochial interests.
Mr Frimpong, who is the District Chief Executive for Sekyere Central in the Ashanti Region, pledged to use the position to deepen decentralisation and gender mainstreaming into local governance.
He said he would ensure that all Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) cater for gender planning and budgeting to enable them to fund gender activities effectively.
Mr Frimpong appealed to MMDAs who had not received their supply of motorbikes to exercise patience as he would ensure that they got their supply before Christmas.
Mr Akuoko Frimpong, who succeeded Mr Theophilus Aidoo-Mensah, DCE for Gomoa West, commended his predecessor for the good work he had done to enhance decentralisation.
Mr Kwasi Oppong-Fosu, Head of Local Government Service, expressed satisfaction with the efforts of NALAG to deepen decentralisation and gave the assurance that the Service would support them.
