Ghana’s Tourism Minister Akua Dansua gets UN position
Ghana’s Minister of Tourism, Ms Akua Sena Dansua has been appointed a member of the Board of Directors of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) Sustainable Tourism Eliminating Poverty (ST-EP) Foundation.
A statement issued by the Public Relations Director at the Ministry November 26, 2011 said the Minister’s appointment took place at the 19th session of the UNWTO General Assembly held in Gyeongju, Republic of South Korea, from October 9-14, 2011.
“A letter addressed to Hon. Sena Dansua and signed by the UNWTO Secretary General, Taleb Rifai, dated November 17, 2011 confirmed the appointment, and looked forward to Ghana’s active participation on the new Board,” the said the statement cited on government’s official website.
ST-EP is a project created to harness the developmental power of Tourism in the fight against global poverty.
It has eight-member Board of Directors and has Seoul as its headquarters.
