Netherlands explores investment opportunities in Ghana, other countries
The Netherlands African Business Council (NABC) and The Ghana Netherlands Chamber of Commerce in Accra (GHANECC) in collaboration with the Royal Netherlands Embassy, have organised a trade and investing seminar as part of a Trade Mission to West Africa from the Netherlands.
The trade mission is in the sub-region to explore business opportunities in Ghana, Nigeria and Benin, focusing on the most important economic areas in these countries through individual business to business meetings and matchmaking sessions with potential business partners in these countries.
In his welcome address, the Ambassador of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Mr Gerard Duijfjes, said the Netherlands had a lot of developmental projects lined up and instruments available to see them through.
Mr. Bob van der Bijl, Managing Director of NABC, said the Council was marking its 65th anniversary and the trade mission to West Africa was very important, especially in strengthening the Netherlands-African relationship.
Dr. Peter Ankrah of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre took the delegation through business opportunities in Ghana and the measures government was taking to make the country an attractive destination for investors.
He also touched on issues such as starting business in Ghana and the necessary procedures that needed to be followed in order to set up foreign owned partnerships.
Prof. Kweku Atuahene Gima, the Academic dean of China Europe Internationa Business School Ghana, said the CEIBS chose Ghana because of considerable safety and good track record in the educational sector.
Nico van Staalduinen, MD of GHANECC drew the audience’s attention to the differences between Ghana and the Netherlands, saying the best way to do business was to use a combination of both local and foreign ideas, and involving and considering cultural differences.
This was to be followed by a matchmaking event and a network reception hosted by Ambassador Gerard Duijfjes at his residence in Accra.
Among the sectors that were present at the meeting include transport, port and logistics, business services and water and sanitation.
